Lemonade review ✓ eBook or Kindle ePUB Ll be the perfect pawn in his terrible plot With a fierceness of spirit uncommon in well bred young ladies in the nineteenth century Anna will have to use her intelligence and courage to protect her loved ones But can she also save herse. The beginning had potential but then the remainder of the book was just pages and pages of the Hh saying hurtful things to each other They argued until almost the end of the book that I was not convinced she was in love with him There was absolutely no mentions of love for the hero on the heroine s part until the 90% mark The self admission just came out of nowhere Like how can she be in love with him She loathed and was terrified of him 90% of the book There was little to no groveling by the hero He is very lucky to have her Warning rape cheating hero just once but is it really cheating if he disliked the heroine and thought her beneath him when he was tupping another womanI m not sure why some inner monologue and there were so many of those were in italics and some were inside parentheses Yes I know this is a translated version The Kindle version is available on Kindle Unlimited and for a while I had contemplated on purchasing the Kindle version for 194 but after a disappointing read I know I don t want my own copy of this book

Buddy read with the wonderful Karly Her reviewI m at a loss as to how to talk about this book It s not like I condone love stories between a rapist and their victim but if you re going to write one this is how you do itI don t know that I fully understood what I was getting into when I decided to read this I had heard there was rape but I ve read lots of books involving rape between the leads The difference was that the rape in LEMONADE was much brutal than the forced seduction of old bodice rippers and it was never framed as anything other than thatThe characters were so well drawn that I ended up enjoying this much than I might otherwise have Anna was likable and strong even when she seemingly bent to Christopher s will and her reactions to him were incredibly realistic Christopher s most personal inner thoughts were written in such a way that I ended up feeling pity for him even as I hated him Everything about their story was so heartbreaking in so many ways He did everything wrong and the glimmers of hope and love that showed between them were so sad because if only Christopher had acted like a good human being they could have shared something truly wonderful Because oh my god their chemistry was crazy But their relationship was forever tainted by his initial rape of her and all the ways he belittled her and held her at his mercy after thatAnd the ending kind of killed meThis is a recent book written in a style similar to other historical romances yet it hearkens back to the old bodice rippers where rape by the hero was the norm However with the profusion of dark romances on the market where the male leads consistently rape the heroines and then are excused in a variety of insanely frustrating and stupid ways it was refreshing I think to read a romance where this wasn t the case

Lemonade review ✓ eBook or Kindle ePUB As a young woman in Victorian England Anna Champion knows all too well the social s that value prettiness over sense and etiuette over honesty But when she stands up to the boorishness of dashing Christopher Davenport at a summertime bal. Instagram Twitter Facebook Pinterest I received an advanced copy of this for review several years ago Unfortunately I don t remember what I said about LEMONADE that first time only that I gave it three stars and was disturbed by the rather brutal rape scene that takes place about 13 of the way through the book And yet despite only giving it three stars LEMONADE has haunted me for two years I kept thinking about Anna and Christopher and their doomed before it even began romance if you can bring yourself to call it that I wondered if perhaps I had been too harsh on the book because if something can stay with you for that long it must be goodLEMONADE was originally published in Italian and then was translated into English It is written in a very uniue way that is difficult to explain random asides in parenthesis to emphasis certain emotional moments for various characters some very colorful and strange analogies and metaphors that sometimes fit and sometimes don t but are always unusual and a charmingly stilted style of writing that is almost anachronistic but smacks of 80s over the top sensationalismThe heroine Anna Champion ends up catching the hero s attention over a misunderstanding with a glass of lemonade He wounds her pride and she seeks revenge It is a small petty revenge but Christopher is so damaged that his ego cannot stand even that small of an insult and the next 450 pages consist of the two characters drawing to draw blood figuratively and literally any way they can Some people will not like this because Christopher is such an awful character He truly is a villain And yet it s impossible not to feel sorry for him at times because of everything he went through Anna is very much the same way At times I found her to be a very strong character but she would buckle at random times too and sometimes she would be so stupidly petty They both had issues and in the end I feel like the author was suggesting that they deserved one anotherIn some ways LEMONADE reminded me of that Japanese mangaanime Hana Yori Dango Christopher is just as cold and impulsive as Tsukasa Domyoji I enjoyed the beginning of the book but after a while LEMONADE started to feel very repetitive I still enjoyed it but I feel I would have enjoyed it if the pacing had been tighter and it ended about 100 pages earlier If you re a fan of vintage bodice rippers and Hana Yori Dango you should check out LEMONADE Even if you absolutely hate it it s highly unlikely that you d read another book like it published in this day and age3 stars

Lemonade E–book/E–pub This was a great story It took over my life for 3 days It was amazing and even made me cry which is rare There is a rape scene with the H and h and it was extremely difficult to read The H was a dark anti hero He loved the H and couldn't resist her which were some of my favorite parts He was pretty obsessed with her I loved how sweet he was with her in their intimate scenes as a married couple His interactions with the h's brother Anthony w
